Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
"State of Being" is an installation of eight (8) paper posters of 0.65 X 0.90 metres directly stuck on the wall, in which eight words (in my opinion, terse words) can be readed. Eight sentences, eight verdicts, hard, terrible and generally, unappealable. The parody among the images, that are expanded photocopies of old designs of commercial stamps, and the strength of their resignificación, give sense to the work.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
I want my work to be seen with patience, with respect and above all, without prejudice. I think one of the major drawbacks current production has to deal with, are the prejudices with which it is observed.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
In general I think my work is crossed by a low tech conceptualism and it is very close to the graphic.
4. Choose works or exhibitions from the last ten or fifteen years which in your opinion were very significant and explain why
I can not name any work or exhibition in particular, but I'm sure you can not review our recent history of art without a devoted paragraph to the predominant curatorial experience of Jorge Gumier Mayer in Rojas Cultural Centre during the '90s.
