Biography
He was born in 1972 in Tucuman, Argentina where he lives and works.
He studied in the Arts School and in the National Arts University of Tucuman. He is an Art teacher in many schools of Tucuman and auxiliary Professor in Studio C's Professorship,since 1997 to 2003.
He was part of groups like “The Corridor” and “The Inventiveness” between 1995 and 2003. Nowadays he directs “The Tip” project with Pablo Córdoba and Luis Carrizo.
He has been selected for different scholarships and artists meetings like: “ Production Meetings for Young N.O.A. Artists”, framed in the agreement between Antorchas Foundation and Studio “C”, with Gumier Maier, Claudia Fontes, Marcelo Pacheco and Laura Batkis as managers (1998); “Work Analysis Meetings”, organized by Trama in Rosario City (2000); “ Production Meetings for Young N.O.A. Artists”, framed in the agreement between Antorchas Foundation and Studio “C”, with Pablo Siquier and Graciela Sacco as managers (2001); Improvement Scholarship for countryside artists, assisting to Jorge Macchi's workshop (2005).
He realized many individual and collective exhibitions in local, regional and national levels, like “The artist Pablo Guiot”, El Borde (The Edge) Gallery, Buenos Aires.
He obtained many national awards, like “Regional Award (NOA), Engraving and Drawing section” of the Osde Salon, Buenos Aires (2006)
His work can be find in private and official collections of the country.
Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
“Self-Portrait”, 2001. Radio control car, sheet painted with synthetic enamel, marker, panel with controls. Installation where the viewer can manipulate the car with commands, generating drawings in a paper base. The style is pop, because of the colors and the generated images. The thematic has to be with a reference to art structure. The work was done modifying a toy radio control car, and incorporating new elements.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
I consider my work like an active space where things happens, and where the other is part of this happening. In this exchange, I feel interested in awaking reflects about human behavior.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
I identify myself with certain neo conceptual Referents: Gabriel Orozco, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jorge Macchi, León Ferrari, Flavia Romano, Rodrigo Amarillo.
4. Choose works or exhibitions from the last ten or fifteen years which in your opinion were very significant and explain why
The work of Jorge Macchi, because it decomposes what is daily giving new shapes to it. The Leòn Ferrari at the C.C.Recoleta, because of his courage. Kuitca's exhibition at the Malba. Tenor Grasso in Tucuman.
