Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
I choose an animation projected on a wall, painted gray only within the rectangle of the projection. A static lineal structure + lights in movement + space, are the elements that constitute this animation. The animation tries to activate the perception of subtle movement, created by occasional effects of lights and shadows that rotate constantly around a lineal structure. Horizontal lines in the space that act at the same time as conductors/guides of this work.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
I don't think I'm able to delimit a single way of reading.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
I have influences from yesterday, today, and tomorrow: Turner, El Bosco, Sol Le Witt, Dan Flavin, Gego, Helio Oiticica, Norman Mc Laren, Walter Ruttmann, Jacques Tati, Junichiro Tanizaki, the Concrete artists of Argentina and Brazil , Sergio Avello, Olafur Eliasson, James Turrell, Sara Zse, An Verónica Janssens, Robert Irwin, Maya Lin...
4. Choose works or exhibitions from the last ten or fifteen years which in your opinion were very significant and explain why
Niki de Saint Phalle, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1997. Geometrías, Colección Cisneros in the MALBA. and wherever I have encountered the works of Roberto Aizenberg Sebastián Gordín, Marcelo Pombo has been a true pleasure.
