Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
“Fail in the System”, oil on canvas, relief, 1,20 m x 1,20 m
The original idea comes from pure geometric shapes, it continues with a computer chip, that breaks. It has a human failure.
And it continues with the time I was living when I did it.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
I wouldn’t suggest any personal way to read my work, I would let this matter in the hands and the sensitivity of the viewer.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
I acknowledge myself in a classical tradition that seeks to recognize the world we live in.
I like Carlos Alonso, Guillermo Roux, Dorado and also José Pérez Celis.
The Argentine artist I prefer most is Antonio Berni, but there are so many that they cannot be mentioned.
4. Choose works or exhibitions from the last ten or fifteen years which in your opinion were very significant and explain why
The exhibition of Carlos Alonso and Guillermo Roux was wonderful, in a time when very little is drawn and too much is scanned. To see those drawers was a pleasure.
