Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
“Rio painting” is my last painting, 10 meters of oil of the color of the Parana River on which I tap other colors that plunged into the river. I will be showing this painting at the Macro, it will consist of a one-picture exhibition and it will hang on the wall that prevents the river view, the other three walls will be bare. I am very interested in the idea of making a painting that can be toured and where the internal composition of the picture is not perhaps the most important element, but the movement that it can generate to the beholder. The movements inside the picture itself.
The challenge of painting a big picture where the vibration of the colors is at low key, and where not everything that is painted can be seen on the first sight, is something I’ve looked for many years.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
With curiosity, time and sharpening the view.
3. In reference to your work and your position in the national and international art fields, what tradition do you recognize yourself in? Who are your contemporary referents? What artists of previous generations are of interest to you?
I think I am a part of the painting tradition, that that uses the vibration of the colors and the dimensions of the fabrics in order to create new spaces. I feel very interested towards the re reading of pictorial works from the painting itself. Contemporary references could be: Cy Twombly, Juanjo Cambre, Verónica Di toro, Louise Bourgeois, the German painters, Monet, Eva Hesse, the minimalists and the post minimalists! Lucio Fontana, Marcaccio, Pombo, Sol Le Witt...
4. Choose works or exhibitions from the last ten or fifteen years which in your opinion were very significant and explain why
Pombo at Ruth Benzacar, incredible delirious of paintings and their monumental element without having to be huge. Fontana Bow, great to see her work live.
Zavaleta Bazan for his freedom in painting.
Vero Di Toro at Sendrós.
Chiachio Leo and Daniel Giannone in the Macro, very strong.
