Vision of art
1. Choose a work that represents you, describe it in relation to its format and materiality, its relation with time and space, its style and theme; detail its production process.
I choose The highway ballad. I consider it relevant, also in relation to the production method as with the theme selection. The theme is the Child Republic, cross point between self biographic womb (my infancy and adolescence took place into, through and around this building) and public model of a construction of a reality. I put emphasize in certain specific aspects: Disney took the Child Republic as direct reference for the creation of Disneyland. The speculation that this myth promotes makes me dizzy. My experience in relation to this place. The conjunction of foundational concepts- creative scattering in a dreams world and tales attached to infancy an to learning to practice rights and obligations that citizens have in all democratic country- and the particular sides taken when giving expression to it. The aesthetic dimension of the place today. I choose this aspects because I consider them as relevant in therms of empathy, personal interests or practical importance.
The idea is to expand the realized fiction Child Republic till this be another realized fiction, art work. To continue a fable through others, project it out of itself by other medias, with other purposes. Founded in a theme, in which the work could manage itself with it own rules. Like inside a board which establishes parameters, suggests relations, possibilities. Something undetermined. I'm interested in the relation nature between reality and what is represented. The immediate environment perception, memory, identity, what makes sense, what is important, what is not. Reflect about possibilities, fallible and what is up to an experience representation. And go out for a walk searching for lightness. About the production method, I choose the reason, a highway and I dispose myself to work directly on the canvas. Sometimes some well blended colors suggest me a shape, others the shape comes first and then then color. The process metaphors are multiples. In a first instance, is like opening a way between smog and sounds, or like to scrap off a card and discover a numeric key. The next stage happens like if it were a director on a set, with some utility objects and a painted background, directing hardly payed actors who has to pose for a painting while they remember something important or stupid, it's the same.
2. In general terms, how would you suggest to approach your work?
Like who is covering some distance.
